Meeple Corp is seeking an experienced Game Designer to help bring multiple established IPs to major digital platforms. You’ll play a key role in translating tabletop games into engaging digital experiences, shaping the overall user experience and metagame systems while balancing brand authenticity with intuitive digital mechanics. Working closely with our small, collaborative team, you’ll help bring high-profile board game titles to life in a culture that values flexibility, shared responsibility, and a passion for quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Define clear, intuitive game flows and user experience structures for new and existing digital adaptations, considering core game loops, onboarding pacing, and the general end to end flow.
- Clearly communicate your thinking, system logic, and UX solutions to the internal dev team throughout the design process.
- Balance ruleset clarity, usability, and established IP guidelines to ensure complex tabletop mechanics translate into a robust and polished digital user experience.
- Design and document engaging metagame systems (player progression, collections, achievements, reward loops) and build detailed wireframes for in-game UX.
- Maintain a strong awareness of accessibility constraints, player onboarding, and long-term engagement considerations across target digital platforms.
- Lead playtesting sessions and continuously critique the game state throughout development to identify usability bottlenecks and friction points.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Game Designer with at least 3-5 years experience (experience with digital tabletop or IP-driven titles is a plus).
- A love for the physical board game space!
- Ability to independently translate physical tabletop rulesets and brand materials into designs for coherent, engaging digital game flows and metagame systems.
- Expertise in defining and executing metagame loops, game flow architecture, and systemic UX principles.
- High level of creativity and demonstrated ability to solve complex design hurdles within the constraints of the physical brand.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills for presenting and explaining design decisions to cross-functional teams and IP stakeholders.
- An understanding of LLMs and how to use them effectively in the game development pipeline.
